SENDMAIL CONFIGURATION IN RHEL5

Server Side

Sendmail

yum install sendmail-cf
chkconfig sendmail --level 35 on
cd /etc/mail/
vim sendmail.mc (make the below changes)
      (keep comment with dnl # for the bleow line)
      dnl # DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')dnl

       (change the below line)
      dnl # LOCAL_DOMAIN(`localhost.localdomain')dnl
      LOCAL_DOMAIN(`mail.gogle.com')dnl
m4 sendmail.mc > sendmail.cf
service sendmail restart
-------------------------
hostname mail.google.com
vim /etcsysconfig/network
HOSTNAME=mail.google.com
vim /etc/hosts (Loop back address are sufficent)

Note: Refer to the below files
/etc/aliases
jane: jane,tom
---------------------------------------------------
run the below command after making above changes
newaliases

/etc/mail/access
/etc/mail/virtusertable
/etc/mail/trusted-users

useradd jane
passwd jane
useradd tom
passwd tom
---------------------------------------------------------------
Dovecot
--------
yum install dovecot
chkconfig dovecot --level 35 on
vim /etc/dovecot.conf
      (remove comment for below line)
protocols = imap imaps pop3 pop3s

service dovecot start
----------------------------------------------------------------
Web Mail (Squirrel Mail)
----------------------------
yum install squirrelmail
chkconfig httpd --levels 35 on
service httpd start
---------------------------------------------
Client Side
-----------
Open web browser and type
http://mail.google.com/webmail

or

mutt -f imaps://jane@mail.google.com
